Antonia Morales and Romelia Mendoza are the last two residents of Duranguito.

The construction of an arena in downtown’s oldest barrio is what the City of El Paso believes it needs to prevent its youth from leaving. As wealthy developers and city officials push forward with these plans, its elderly residents and community activists organize to fight against the city’s attempts of forced displacement. While they manage to find small victories in their uphill battle, the residents face the might of an entire city government against them.

As litigation holds the historic neighborhood in limbo, the remaining residents hold steady against the city as they await their uncertain futures.
